Double Entry Journal # 1

Quote:

"We can’t keep preparing students for a world that doesn’t exist. We can’t keep ignoring the formidable cognitive skills they’re developing on their own. And above all, we must stop disparaging digital prowess just because some of us over 40 don’t happen to possess it." ( Heffernan, August 7, 2011)

Response:

I think that many children of today's society use laptops, cell-phones, social networking sites to connect to the world around them. Why are these student of today are not waiting to be taught how to use these skills? It is because most of these skills required for such success are not included in many school system through out America. I think one of the most important things we can do is to empower the students of today's society by bringing digital technology learning into the classrooms. I feel that if we as a society fail to bring digital technology into the classroom then we will fail to produce students that are capable of functioning in a technologically advanced world.
